“CHICKS, CHICKS, AND MORE CHICKS ON OUR PONTOON PUTTS”

No, I don’t mean those
kinds of chicks!! I mean the feathery kind of chicks! This has been a
busy and productive spring season on the river and the lakes for my
pontoon boat and its participants. Admittedly it started off rather
quiet, or on the slow side, for wildlife viewing and photographing.
Probably due to the lack of rain making the rivers & lakes in Florida
dangerously low (the St. John’s River is down a record six feet!!). As
the weeks have stretched on into April & May, I have seen a vast
improvement and we have been able to add a fair amount of chick shots to
our image libraries. Because the waters have been so low, the wading
birds & babies are much more in view and easy prey for our camera
lenses. Birds & mammals were not our only focus with the camera.
Beautiful reflections of trees, Spanish moss, varying species of lilies
& air plants added to our fun.

My boat has a new toy to
add to our photo success—an almost totally silent electric trolling motor
that I can manipulate from anywhere within the boat. This allows us to be
able to silently sneak up and get really close to our subjects. It also
enables me to manipulate the boat and photograph too! Plans &
bookings are already in the works for more Pontoon Putts in November
& December 2011, and Jan., Feb., March, April & May 2012. I am
totally open to making arrangements & guiding your own private tours,
single or group. If so, call or e-mail me with your desired dates…

The ‘trip of a lifetime’ is
still planned, but two openings need to be filled to make it a reality.
The dates are August 24th thru September 8th. Kenya has been my chosen
destination for a number of years after having explored & experienced
many of the other countries of Africa, which are: Zimbabwe, South Africa,
Botswana & Tanzania. My reasons are simply safety (for human &
equipment), quality of wildlife, ability to photograph successfully,
quality of lodging and food, and quality of knowledge from my guides
& type of vehicles. The ‘Big Five,’ of course, is a huge attraction,
but most people don’t consider the quantity and uniqueness of the bird
species that inhabit the continent of Africa.

This 16-day
adventure is an exceptional value considering it is spent in
two-photographers-only per van, excellent lodging and board, with the
same guides I’ve had for years (& taught how to photograph making
them very savvy to our needs)… all this and more for $8,700.00 pp, double
occupancy. Please visit my website www.joannewilliamsphoto.com for more
information and plenty of photographs to ‘wet your appetite’!!

I’m off to the Pantanal in
Brazil June 11th (another outstanding adventure) but will be available
the rest of May. Happy Shooting and… Keep Your Aperture Your
Priority!!!!

Researchers, Editors, and Publishers:

As stated in previous newsletters, at no
obligation to you, send me a “want list” of images you are looking for
that may coincide with a trip I’m about to take, or have recently taken,
and I’ll do my very best to seek out that subject and shoot it with your
request in mind. This may save you some expense, give me a specific
mission and possibly a sale of that image. It’s a ‘win, win situation’!

A quick reminder that my library of 35mm
original slides houses approximately 75,000 images, and my digital
library presently holds over 100,000 (and growing-hourly)!

My website holds an in-depth Stock Shop for your quick review: www.joannewilliamsphoto.com
